Located in GK2, Amalfi is an Italian restaurant which goes beyond the regular pizza, pasta and other known dishes. The restaurant owners are a true Italian food lover couple who have created this place out of their passion for food. The ambience has been created to give a feelings of Italian county side amidst Delhi. The open area in rooftop is a cozy romantic seating area perfect for a, amorous date!

Recently some of my friends visited this beautiful place for an exquisite dinner. Those Italian songs in the background just created the perfect mood. From antipasti we had, Insalata Mista al Formaggio - Very healthy dish for all. Colorful and delicious. Italian salad with lettuce, green apple, asparagus tossed in agro dolce dressing with crumbled feta or goat cheese and walnuts. Souffle alla gorgonzola - Gorgonzola cheese souffle served with rocket leaves, green apple salad alongside porcini mushroom sauce. By origin it is egg baked french dish. It was very cheesy and yummy. This is a must one on Amalfi. You will crave for more after having this. Pollo al pesto - Pan seared chicken tossed in pesto sauce and served with lettuce. Little spicy and juicy, perfect to go with a drink.

From Primi piatti (First course) we opted for, Pizza Basilico e bocconcini - Thin crust base topped with homemade tomato sauce, bocconcini, jalpenos, olives, sundried tomatoes and permesan cheese Affumicato pizza di pollo - Thin crust base topped with homemade tomato sauce, mushroom, smoked chicken, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella and permesan cheese. I liked it over the veg one.

The Secondi piatti (main course) was the most lavish one which we were waiting for - Scotttato in padella basa con marinara - Pan seared basa topped with marinara sauce served with mashed potato and sauteed vegetables. Light and non spicy on taste Risotto con Misto Funghi - Arborio rice cooked in white wine with wild mushroom and porcini finished with aged parmesan cheese. Perfect risotto, subtle in taste. Enjoyed with a glass of sangria! Spiedini dipollo alla pancetta - Bacon wrapped chicken skewers served with honey prune chilli sauce. This is the most delicious one among the main course meal. Little sweetish for its use of prune (European plum), honey and perfectly cooked chicken morsels just melted with my favorite bacons! A recommended dish here.

And the meal ended with Dolce/sweet - Tiramisu - Traditional Italian dessert made with mascarpone (Italian cream cheese) and espresso coffee. Loved it thoroughly. Spiedini di pollo alla pancetta - Freshly baked chocolate fondant served with gelato ice cream. A heavenly dessert for chocolate lovers. Similar to lava cake and moelleux, the liquid chocolate running from the soufflé after cutting - enough to send you into a state of peace and tranquillity!

For a perfect Italian dinner, Amalfi is the place in New Delhi you should go for. Service was little slow on that day but it can be overcame I am sure! The food was magnifico, Grazie tante!
