38 Barracks is located at M 38 of Connaught place, Delhi. The restaurant looks similar to a house of a military colonel so the name is justified. The rustic decor, the guns, photo frames on the wall..all the things combining together gives a distinct feeling of a high end premium pub/restaurant.
We had lunch over there with some of our friends. Exotic cocktails, live music and nice food presentation makes it a recommended restaurant.
For starters, we had:- Paneer Tikka Barrels - spicy paneer tikka presented in a miniature cart served with mint sauce Chicken satay - Grilled olive crusted chicken satay, delicious Soldier's Mirchi wada - crispy fried banana pepper filled with Tangy potatoes Spanakopita - spinach and feta filled phyllo wraps Beetroot Ko Galouti - a new variant of traditional galouti kebab. Veg kebab made from beetroot fried crisply from outside. Has a resemblance with vegetable chop from street food of kolkata. Masala bhutta tartlets - sweetcorn mixed with spicy and tangy masala presented in a tart. Chicken Duet Tikka - malai tikka and masala tikka served in single plate, enough amount of tikkas to have. Chicken Harissa Tikka - spicy chicken morsels served with mint chutney Battalion samosa booster - had chicken samosa after a long time. Samosa filled with keema bhaaji and chicken. Huge size!
Some of the cocktails and mocktails we had were, Bira blonde draught beer, Bull Frog - green beauty, vodka Gin rum tequilla mixed Sergent - pineapple juice, lime juice with soda Military Camp - Orange, peach syrup mixed with grenadine Hulk - sweet lime with basil leaves. 49th Battalion - watermelon and apple juice mixed with sprite Boston beach - scotch, gin, vodka, triple sec mixed with cola and orange juice Gunner - vodka based mixology cocktail Aviation - gin based mixology cocktail Ak47 - apples, cinnamon and cranberries soaked in red wine. A spicy sangria! Tequilla sunrise - tequilla and triple sec amalgamated Thick berry berry shakes Green apple tini - vodka based green apple cocktail
For main course, we had rich Dal Makhani made in traditional indian spices - it was seriously something to remember, a recommended one. Other dishes were Kadai Paneer, Barracks Special Butter Chicken - chicken morsels in nice juicy gravy enjoyed with Butter Naan, Garlic Naan and Tandoori Roti, biryani was also good. Crumbing chocolate Brownie - mud pie served with vanilla ice cream
Service was prompt, enjoyed the food with live music - the singer David was great indeed. Head chef Bharat Saxena was great in his innovation. The veg dishes were simply outstanding. Overall verdict - 4.5/5 Food - 5 Service -4.5 Value for money -4 Ambience - 4.5 For more foodventure, travelgram and microblog follow foodandtravel.in and wanderlust_kaushik at Ig and zomato
